  • HI!

I’m Griffin. I’ve been keeping bees for 23 years. I love sharing the joy of honeybees with anyone that will listen.

I have been breeding my girls for temperament and hygienicism for the last decade. Colony health is always the priority and Back Road bees are locally raised and overwintered in Virginia.

  • HOMEYARD

is 21 lush mountain acres located in Linden, Virginia and nestled against the Appalachian Trail. It is only a short ride to Skyline Drive, minutes from vineyards, apple orchards and an hour west of Washington, D.C.

  • OUTYARDS

Back Road bees are spread over 26 other farms and gardens in three counties where they enjoy ample forage on Virginia's native flora and orchard crops. The result is distinctly floral honey served in some of Virginia’s finest restaurants.

  • LEARN

If it is sunny and warm, there’s a good chance I am around and happy to share what I know about the bees.

Whether you’re just curious, a newbee or a fellow bee master: my apiary is open for observation and conversation. There is never a charge for visiting or an introduction to bees.
